CMU Insights @ The Great Escape 2015

CMU Insights presented four one-day conferences at The Great Escape 2015

In 2015, CMU Insights @ The Great Escape took over Dukes @ Komedia on the first two days of TGE to present four one-day mini conferences putting the spotlight on music rights, music marketing, brand partnerships and the role of the record label.

CMU Insights presents The Licensing Conference
Music Rights: Explained At Last!
In this conference – sponsored by PRS For Music and PPL – we outlined once and for all how each kind of digital music platform is being licensed, and how revenues are being divided between labels, publishers, songwriters and artists. We then had a very lively debate over whether or not the current split between different stakeholders is fair and sustainable.

CMU Insights presents The Marketing Conference
Music Marketing Is Broken: Let’s Fix It

In this conference we asked "In the streaming age do traditional album campaigns make sense? What really drives streams on key platforms? What should labels do to achieve maximum play? Are playlist owners the new opinion formers? And what do analytics and new ticketing apps mean for live marketing?" The questions were answered, and new issues were raised, while the role of online playlists was very much put into the spotlight.

CMU Insights presents The Brands Conference
How To Sell Out Gracefully: Better Brand Partnerships

In this conference we acknowledged that everyone wants some brand cash, but then asked what deals really deliver and what keeps partners on board long-term? Experts from both sides of the equation looked at brand alliances with artists and festivals to assess current trends and best practice. Plus we discussed how sync deals work and what artists can do when a brand steals their ideas.

CMU Insights presents The Deals Conference
What’s The Point Of A Record Label Anyway?

In this conference – sponsored by the BPI – looked at why labels remain key partners for artists, and especially new talent. What services do labels provide? Who else offers those services? What helps ensure a good artist/label partnership? And how are record deals evolving? Our panels of labels, managers and other key artist partners provided plenty of food for thought.
